Players 13.0

by Alex Carroll
20th September 2019 · England

We can't quite believe this show is now in its 13th instalment, it also seemed like Jay and the team really pushed to budget this year and ordered in the weather too - apparently summer is over but 26 degrees had us fooled. If you didn't know this event held at North Weald Airfield near Essex is sister event to Players Classic held at Goodwood in the summer, both events have different vibes and are great in the own ways.

Today we're at North Weald so that's what we'll focus on, the basic set up of the show is two aircraft hangars and a vast hard standing outside space full of the best pre-selected show cars from the UK and Europe. Unlike other shows though this one is opened up for entry into Show and Shine on the day which fills up extremely quickly as you can imagine.

Lets talk cars, that's what we're here for after all.

We'll start with Jay from Players latest purchase, his Porsche 964 we're not jealous honest. Obviously being Jay's it wasn't going to stay standard for long being dropped with a set of Bilstein coilovers and then of course adding a set of very "correct" looking Rotiforms.

Jay's 964.

Next up we're going to feature a Volvo - a favourite at ILB Towers with James currently owning a classic and Adam once having a C30. As luck would have it what we have here is a C30 also in white much like Adams old one, its the first time we've seen a Volvo on JDM wheels with a bosozoku exhaust which on paper really shouldn't work but in the case it just does.

Bosozoku on a Volvo?
Volvo's can be cool too, see.

As I'm sure you all know we love a yellow car at ILB and Jamie's DC5 is very yellow. Having been off the road for most of the year its now back out with a fresh engine rebuild after the last one decided it wanted an early retirement, this car is also a perfect example of how BBS RF's just always work.

Mugen fronted DC5.
BBS RF always work.

Childhood posted car, a bayside blue Nissan R34 Skyline GTR Spec V straight out of Gran Turismo. There's not much more to say on this one other than just look how cool it is.

Players events can always be trusted to bring out some weird and wonderful creations, just like this Austin Allegro (we think that's right) parked outside the smaller of the two hangars.

So Many Questions.

As always we have to give a big thanks to all the team behind these Players events, their hospitality is always second to none.

We'll catch you at Ultimate Stance to see the 2019 show season out.
